Autumn is Here

Well, really it is now officially winter here in Adelaide, South Australia being the 1st June today.

This is what part of my garden is like today on an overcast day, raining all day yesterday and part of the night. Our water tanks (we have many) are all full and overflowing. Does this means I can have a lovely longer shower?  We have rain water connected to the house now so we have soft water not the awful Adelaide water.

The garden looks lovely and I can look out my studio windows and see the leaves changing colour and falling as each day passes.

I am working too not just day dreaming. Am working on four commission quilts using silks - will post some photos later.

I love this time of the year - windy, wet and autumn - makes you feel alive!!

ANCIENT WORLDS EXHIBITION

On Sunday I opened the above exhibition at the Gawler Community Gallery, Twentythird Street, Gawler South (old railway station). The textile Artists are Liz Collinge and Stephanie Eland, two of our Fibre Artist Network members. The exhibition is on from 23 May - 30 June. Hours Thursday to Sunday 10am - 4pm.
There are four other exhibitions at the same venue so worth a drive to Gawler to visit all the exhibitions. If you go on a Sunday morning you can visit the fair they have in the car park - fruit and veg, and old things for sale etc...

A Trip to the Adelaide Hills

A great day out today visiting exhibitions (see previous post) - a beautiful sunny day and a joy to see the Hills in autumn - yellows and reds and the river was a lovely spot for lunch.

An Exhibition Trail

Today we packed a picnic lunch and headed off to Adelaide Hills to visit several exhibitions.

The first being at Murray Bridge Gallery
Three exhibitions in the one space. What a treat!!!
In the main Gallery was an exhibition of stitched works, Art to Wear and paintings by Cheryl Bridgart  - "Its All About the Journey" - a fabulous exhibition!!! Worth a visit.
In the two smaller Galleries were exhibitions by Adrian Caon - "Obsolescence" - Photography about his impressions about his travels to India. He also had a lovely travel  journal on display.
The last gallery was a photography exhibition by Richard Lyons - "Our Culture Burns Brightly without Cigarettes"
They were all wonderful and very interesting.
19 April - 2 June 2013

Then onto the Hahndorf Academy Gallery to see "Memory Cloth" by Glenys Mann - Australia, Els van Baarle - The Netherlands, Cherilyn Martin - United Kingdom. This was also an interesting exhibition of Textiles. 26 April - 9 June 2013

Then onto Johnston Winery at Oakbank to see "Winter Blues"
- an exhibition of Art to Wear by the "Class Act Collective". It was very varied and interesting - the Winery is really lovely too.
5 May - 2 June 2013.

So if you want a lovely day out visit the exhibitions above in the Adelaide Hills.
